Sharon Steinmann

Bio

SharĂ³n Steinmann is an award-winning photographer who has worked for more than a decade at newspapers in California, Texas and Washington State. Most recently she was on staff at the Houston Chronicle.

She has documented many stories of international impact, including the AIDS epidemic in Honduras and the displacement of Hurricane Katrina victims. Her photographs of the aftermath of Hurricane Ike were part of a package chosen as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. She graduated form the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in anthropology. Sharon speaks fluent Spanish and basic conversational Hebrew and is available for freelance work in the U.S. and abroad.
